“Weapons” Director Zach Cregger Reimagines “Resident Evil,” Trailer Out Now

Horror fans are getting ready for a new nightmare as acclaimed filmmaker Zach Cregger brings his vision to one of gaming’s most iconic horror franchises.

Known for directing Barbarian and the upcoming Weapons, Cregger now takes on Resident Evil with an all-new story that reimagines the franchise while keeping its signature themes of survival, fear, and chaos at the center.

Unlike previous adaptations, the upcoming film introduces audiences to a new protagonist and a fresh survival story. It follows Bryan (Austin Abrams), a medical courier whose ordinary routine takes a terrifying turn when he finds himself caught in a night of chaos, forced into a relentless fight for survival against monstrous threats.

With Cregger’s background in crafting suspenseful and unpredictable horror experiences, Resident Evil aims to bring a fresh perspective to the beloved franchise while introducing a new chapter for longtime fans and newcomers alike.

From TriStar Pictures, Constantin Film, and Davis Films, Resident Evil stars Austin Abrams, Zach Cherry, Kali Reis, and Paul Walter Hauser. The film is directed by Zach Cregger, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Shay Hatten.

“Resident Evil” arrives in Philippine cinemas, including IMAX, on September 16.
